Timing
For optimum results the granules should be applied immediately after drilling, harrowing and/or rolling of the crop. It is essential to
use this timing to control blackgrass and meadow grasses and preferable to control wild oats. Application pre-emergence of the grass weeds, very early
post-emergence of the crop (drill rows just visible), also provides good control. Some moisture after application is required to activate the
granules.
However where drilling takes place before the third week of October, granules should be applied within 14 days for optimum results.
Post-emergence applications of Avadex Excel 15G will control wild oats which are up to the two leaf stage of the wild oat or up to 50%
ground cover of the crop when the rows begin to merge.
Where weather conditions are favourable at drilling and during early crop establishment, wild oats can germinate rapidly and grow beyond
the susceptible growth stage. Where this might occur, Avadex Excel 15G should be applied within 14 days of drilling.

Additional Information
Reduced rates on uneven/cloddy seedbeds will result in increased variability and may result in poor weed control.
Do NOT reduce rates when the objective is control of blackgrass or barren brome, as poor control can result.
Avadex is critical to improving performance of existing products.
Where winter cereals are drilled in warm dry conditions in September, application should be delayed until more favourable soil moisture conditions occur.
Wheat, durum wheat, rye and triticale crops that are to be treated pre-emergence should be drilled at least 4cm (11/2") and barley seeds at 21/2-4cm (1-1/2").
All winter cereal crops that are to be treated post-emergence may be drilled at normal depth.
When applied post-emergence of the crop,Avadex Excel 15G may be applied to direct drilled, shallow drilled or broadcast crops. Emerged
blackgrass and meadow grasses are not controlled by post-emergence applications - however, where blackgrass has emerged, but not beyond the spike
stage, control of around 70% would be expected. Where weather has delayed application, treatment can still be justified as part of blackgrass resistance
management because sensitisation of the blackgrass by Avadex Excel 15G still occurs and improves control with sequential treatments.
